Congress' hand stained with Muslims' blood: Khurshid

Stirring a controversy, Senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid has said that his party’s hands are stained “with the blood of Muslims”.

The former Union minister made the remark in response to a question by an Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) student at a programme.

“There is blood on our hands. I am also a part of the Congress so let me say it, we have blood on our hands. Is this why you are trying to tell us that if someone attacks you, we must not come forward to protect you?,” Khurshid was quoted as saying.

The student had posed the query referring to a series of communal riots and other controversial acts under the Congress rule in the past, media reports said.

“I am telling you. We are ready to show the blood on our hands so that you realise that you too must not get blood on your hands. If you attack them, you are the ones who would get stains on your hands,” Khurshid reportedly said.

“Learn something from our past. Learn from our history and don’t create such situations for yourself where if you come back to Aligarh Muslim University after 10 years, you find no one like yourself putting out questions,” he was quoted as saying.

Referring to a long list of communal conflagrations including those at Hasanpura, Maliana, Muzaffarnagar, the student had said even the opening of the gates of Babri Masjid, placing of idols inside it and then its demolition took place when the Congress was in power at the Centre.

The former Union minister was the chief guest at the annual function of BR Ambedkar Hall of the AMU.

Here’s how you can plan your home loan monthly instalments

A home loan is a fabulous modern day financial tool that has helped many of us fulfil the dream of having a dream home. Although a home loan offers the required amount to purchase or fund a property, what matters after availing the loan is – the repayment!
That’s where a Home Loan EMI calculator helps you know an exact EMI amount that you will pay. Once you are aware of an exact EMI figure to pay, you can easily manage the repayment part.
Yes, if you know and if you have planned the home loan monthly instalments prudently, then there will be no issues in managing your monthly financial outflow.
Picture1
However, if you have not, you will need to consider some factors as you strategize to repay a housing loan EMI such as:

  • Your Earnings

When you have got a consistent and stable income, you can easily opt to repay a higher EMI option. How? It’s because you and your creditor can assume that your income will increase with time. However, ensure that your home loan EMIs does not affect monthly household costs and investments. Lenders consider about 40-50% of your income when determining your EMI payments, an EMI figure letting you save at least 15% of monthly income is deemed perfect.

  • Your Expenditures

A Home Loan borrower should keep it safe when determining on the housing loan EMI to keep paying on-time, every time. Consider your existing and future expenses such as family costs, personal, lifestyle kids’, probable medical expenses and more. A borrower should also ensure that his/her concentrated EMI spending is unchanged by inflation over the years.

  • Your Age

Always know that your age also affects your home loan interest rates. When you are old, the risk of repayment increases as you get lesser time (in years) to do it. When you are young, and the risk factor is low as you can manage heavy EMIs over the years. It is also because you have got more years to do that. The more later you start your loan, you more you need to balance it with other growing spending as well.

  • The Rate of Interest or ROI

Also, the rate of interest or ROI of your home loan will not remain the same throughout the loan tenor. As a result, if you are unsure of the market conditions and can’t afford a floating interest rate, opt for a fixed rate so that you can pay a fixed EMI. You can know an exact EMI amount even before availing a home loan by using a home loan EMI calculator.

  • Other Considerations

Other than the discussed home loan repayment factors, you should also consider some other factors which many of you may be ignoring. Thus, you should consider how much income you will earn in the next 1 year, your lifestyle and living standard, decrease in income, if any, and, health conditions that may restrict your employment. Also, how you decide to fulfil your financial goals, future plans and retirement goals should also be considered before planning your home loan EMIs.
The Bottom Line
Always know that if you have the required eligibility, you can always grab a home loan from leading lenders.
However, a home loan runs into years, and if you are not prepared to carry on with the same financial status as currently, things may fall apart.
Hence, to keep your home loan repayment and EMIs going smooth, you should consider the discussed points and never feel financially burdened. Happy home loan management!

Sabrina said, “I would like to state I have no objection to his release, owing to the fact that he has spent 15 years in jail.”

She added, “He has served his sentences and I am done with it… In my own mind I have forgiven him.”

Manu Sharma convict in Jessica Lal murder case had found guilty in the murder case in 2006, and sentenced him to life imprisonment. Sharma had opened fire at Jesssica when she refused to serve him alcohol at a restaurant in south Delhi.

Avoid ‘irresponsible’ statements, Modi tells BJP leaders

NarendraModi_6Prime Minister Narendra Modi has advised party leaders to avoid issuing “irresponsible” comments, saying their responsibility has risen as public support has increased for the BJP.

Underlining the support that BJP received from backward sections of the society and highlighting that it had the maximum number of elected lawmakers from OBC, Dalit and tribal communities, Modi reportedly said that its reach was no longer confined to a particular class, urban centres or north India.

His comments, made during an interaction with the party’s MPs, MLAs and other representatives through his mobile application, assume significance in the wake of opposition parties’ attempts to put up a united front against the saffron party over Dalit issues and also criticism of some BJP leaders for making irresponsible statements, media reports said.

He also asked MPs and MLAs to take a resolve to solve four to five problems of the villages falling in their respective constituencies as he issued them several instructions to observe the ongoing ‘Gram Swaraj’ campaign between April 14 and May 5, reported PTI.

The BJP has not come to power due to mistakes of the Congress but because it has always stayed connected to the people and now their job in power is to solve problems facing the masses, Modi was quoted as saying.

The perception about the BJP that it was a party of a particular class and urban centres or north India has changed and it has emerged as an “all-touching and all-inclusive” organisation, he reportedly said.

“Our mass base is increasing among all sections of the society and this is our biggest asset,” the party statement quoted him as saying.

7 opposition parties led by Congress seek impeachment motion against CJI Misra

_a1889f88-4475-11e8-a5d3-1ef93e3dfeedSeven opposition parties, led by Congress Party on April 20 have met M Venkaiah Naidu, vice president and Rajya Sabha chairman, to submit the notice seeking the impeachment of Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra. The congress is supported by other major opposition parties, including the Samajwadi Party, the Bahujan Samaj Party, the Rashtriya Janta Dal, the Communist Party of India, and the Nationalist Congress Party.

Reportedly TMC and DMK were initially in favour of an impeachment motion against the CJI, but are no longer supporting the impeachment motion.

Among those who attended the meeting in the Parliament were Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, accompanied by Kapil Sibal and Randeep Surjewala, besides CPI’s D Raja and NCP’s Vandana Chavan have attended the meeting.

During the press conference, Congress leaders said that the parties had to move the notice with a “very heavy heart” since CJI Misra had not “asserted the independence of judiciary in the face of interference by the executive”.

The notice comes a day after the apex court rejected a bunch of petitions seeking an independent investigation into the death of Judge BH Loya, who was hearing the Sohrabuddin Sheikh encounter case. The apex court judgment was delivered by a bench headed by CJI Misra.

Congress leaders said they have the support of more than 60 Rajya Sabha members. Such notices require the signatures of at least 50 members of a House.

“You require 50 signatures of the Rajya Sabha and 100 signatures in the Lok Sabha. That is all you require. The law does not say that every Opposition party must be represented,” said Congress leader Sibal.

Congress leaders added the people of India must protect this institution from the kind of gross interferences by the government and be protected also from within.

Talks regarding the impeachment motion against CJI initiated in January after Justices J Chelameswar, Ranjan Gogoi, M B Lokur, and Kurian Joseph held a press conference and issued a statement to say that the situation in the Supreme Court was “not in order” and that many “less than desirable” things had taken place.

PM Modi was in London for bilateral talks and to attend the CHOGM.

Anti-Indian protestors, including Pro-Khalistan protestors from the Sikh Federation UK and members of the so-called “Minorities Against Modi” group, led by Pakistani-origin peer Nazir Ahmed, were among hundreds of protesters who gathered outside Downing Street where PM Modi met his British counterpart Theresa May.

According to agency reports, nearly 500 protesters were gathered upon Parliament Square holding placards that read “Modi go home” while others condemned the incidents of rape.

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has said that they expect “legal action” to be taken against those protestors who brought down the Indian flag, which was officially hoisted along with the flags of all 53 Commonwealth countries.

We have been warning against some of these elements out to make trouble and they have assured us of action. The Indian flag has now been replaced.”

The UK Government has tendered an apology after Indian authorities complained that the Indian flag in Parliament Square was pulled down, torn and stamped on by individuals protesting against India.

Facing power cut? Don’t worry. You will be compensated

power-electricityLieutenant Governor Anil Baijal has given his approval to the AAP government’s proposal to give monetary compensation to consumers in case of unscheduled power cuts.

According to the new policy, in cases of unscheduled power cuts, discoms will have to restore electricity “within an hour”. Failure to do so shall result in a penalty of Rs 100 for each hour of power outage.

The proposal to compensate consumers for unscheduled outages by power discoms in the national capital was approved by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal a few days ago and was sent for the L-G’s approval, media reports said.

“Approved proposal for issue of policy directions regarding payment of compensation to consumers in case of power failure,” Baijal tweeted today.

As per the proposed policy, power discoms will have to pay their consumers for unscheduled power cuts, after first hour, at an hourly rate of Rs 100, the report said

With the LG’s approval, Delhi will become the first city in the country to have a policy to compensate consumers for unscheduled outages, it was pointed out.

Under the policy, discoms will be exempt from paying penalty in the first hour of an unscheduled power cut. For the next hour, consumers will be paid Rs 50, after which compensation will be paid at a rate of Rs 100 per hour, the PTI report highlighted.

The first hour exemption from penalty will be available once a day for the discoms, it said.

There are three private power discoms including the BSES companies BYPL and BRPL, and the Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL) that supply power to the city, barring areas under the New Delhi Municipal Council and the Delhi Cantonment, the report highlighted.

The compensation earned by the consumers will be adjusted against their monthly power bill, it added.

Apex court rejects pleas for probe into Justice Loya's death

The Supreme Court has dismissed petitions seeking independent probe into the death of special CBI judge Brijgopal Harkishan Loya, who was hearing the high-profile Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case.
The Supreme Court judgment slammed the petitioners for “maligning” the judiciary. The bench of Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justices A.M. Khanwilkar, D.Y. Chandrachud said attempts were made to scandalise the judiciary by levelling serious allegations against judicial officers and judges of the Bombay High Court.
Judge Loya reportedly died of a cardiac arrest while in Nagpur in Maharashtra on December 1, 2014. He was in Nagpur to attend a wedding.
Loya’s death led to allegations of a foul play since he was investigating the politically sensitive Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case, media reports said.
There is no reason to doubt statements of four judges on circumstances leading to the death of Loya and the documents placed on record and their scrutiny establishes that Loya’s death was due to natural cause, the bench reportedly said.
The top court was quoted as saying that with these petitions it becomes clear that a real attempt and a frontal attack was made on the independence of the judiciary.
The issue of Loya’s death had come under the spotlight in November last year after media reports quoting his sister had fuelled suspicion about circumstances surrounding it and its link to the Sohrabuddin case. But Loya’s son had on January 14 said in Mumbai that his father had died of natural causes, reported PTI.
In the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case, BJP President Amit Shah along with Rajasthan Home Minister Gulabchand Kataria, Rajasthan-based businessman Vimal Patni, former Gujarat police chief P.C. Pande, Additional Director General of Police Geeta Johri and Gujarat police officers Abhay Chudasama and N.K. Amin have already been discharged, the report said.
