He will inaugurate the Puja of Santosh Mitra Square at Lebutala Park in central Kolkata, whose principal organiser is BJP councilor in Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) Sajal Ghosh.

The theme of this particular community Puja this year is Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. “The Prime Minister Narandra Modi will be inaugurating the Ram Mandir at Ayodhya in January next year. But before that Home Minister will be inaugurating another Ram Mandir in Kolkata, ” Ghosh told media persons.

But we do not want to be party to waste money of the state exchequer and that too at a time when the state government is unable to meet essential expenditure for development or go for recruitment for the vacant posts, ” Ghosh said.

Gujarat HC issues notice to university over PM Modi’s degree controversy, next hearing on Nov 3

Ahmedabad : The Gujarat High Court on Thursday served a notice to Gujarat University (GU), addressing its Registrar, Piyush Patel.

The development followed the petitions filed by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh. The dispute pertains to defamation complaint regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s academic credentials.

Kejriwal and Singh, entangled in this defamation case in Ahmedabad, received their first summons for a court appearance on April 15, with a subsequent summons on May 23. They approached the High Court on September 16, aiming to nullify the April summons.

The AAP leaders are contesting the summons previously issued to them by an Ahmedabad magistrate court following a criminal defamation complaint from GU. They are also pressing for the reversal of an Ahmedabad sessions court decision that supported the original summons from the magistrate court.

However, the trial in the magistrate court concerning the criminal defamation is set to commence on October 14. Justice J.C Doshi denied the petitioner’s requests for a trial delay or postponement while their appeal is under the high court’s consideration.

The court scheduled the next hearing for November 3, by which the notice should be responded to.

Kashmiri woman and family trapped in Gaza appeals for help

A Kashmiri academic, Lubna Nazir Shaboo, along with her family, is currently stuck in Gaza amid the ongoing conflict and has made an urgent plea to the Indian government for rescue. Lubna, a resident of Srinagar, explained that the bombardment has made movement impossible, and the Gaza Strip is completely surrounded, leaving no safe exit.

“We are not able to go anywhere because there is no safe place for us anywhere and the Gaza Strip is too small and it is closed from every side. There are no exit points over here,” she said in a social media video.

The situation in Gaza is dire, with over 1,100 people, including 326 children, reported killed in Israel’s retaliatory airstrikes, and thousands more injured. Lubna and her family find themselves in a perilous situation, and their internet access is unreliable, making communication challenging.

Compounding the crisis, Gaza’s only power station has been shut down due to a lack of fuel, potentially affecting hospital operations. Al-Shifa Hospital, Gaza’s largest medical facility, has a limited supply of fuel for its backup generators.

Efforts to supply humanitarian relief to Gaza are facing significant challenges, as Egyptian security sources oppose establishing secure passages for refugees seeking to leave the enclave. In response, the Indian government has launched Operation Ajay to facilitate the return of Indians from Israel who wish to come back home.

AAP workers protest against Sanjay Singh’s arrest by ED

New Delhi : Following the arrest of AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, the party workers and leaders on Tuesday held a protest in the national Capital.

The AAP also claimed that while they were on the way to gherao BJP headquarters, the Delhi Police thrashed party workers and detained hundreds of them.

Scores of AAP party workers and leaders also raised slogans “Sanjay Singh sher hai” and “Modi jab-jab darta hai, ED ko aage karta hai.”

AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sandeep Pathak said during the protest that the BJP had got Sanjay Singh arrested in a bogus case because they know that now it is difficult for the saffron party to stop the AAP.

“The BJP is misusing institutions like the ED and the CBI for its electoral gains. The BJP is conspiring to destroy the Constitution and democracy. I want to tell the BJP government that no matter how many fake cases they file against AAP leaders, no matter how many AAP leaders they put in jail, it will not scare us. Now, it is impossible for them to stop the AAP.

“For us, national interest comes first and our fight is to save the Constitution of the country. We will fight against the BJP dictatorship and end it once and for all, ” said Pathak.

During the protest, AAP MLA Kuldeep Kumar said that for the last 15 months, the ED and CBI had been investigating a bogus case at the behest of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but they could not find anything.

“The Supreme Court also said that if this case goes to the court on basis of the allegations levelled by the ED, it will not last a minute. Even after this, they continue to arrest our leaders.

“MP Sanjay Singh is the loudest voice of the poor. He does not hesitate to speak against the Modi government. That’s why the Modi government has got him arrested through ED, ” said Kumar.

“The police have beaten our workers brutally even though they were protesting peacefully. Many people received head injuries. They even thrashed the women. This brutality of the police shows that Modi has destroyed the Constitution and democracy, ” he said.
