One terrorist was killed on Monday in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
The exchange of fire is underway in the Srigufwara area of Anantnag.
Kashmir Zone Police in a tweet said, “#AnantnagEncounterUpdate: So far 01 #unidentified #terrorist killed. Operation going on. Further details shall follow.”
Following tip-off of about the presence of terrorists in the area, security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation.
Chinar Corps-Indian Army earlier tweeted, “Op Sirigofor (#Anantnag). Joint Operation was launched today early morning on @JmuKmrPolice inputs. Cordon was laid & contact established. Firefight ensued. Joint Operation in progress.”
