India’s COVID-19 cases rise to 7,19,665; Death toll at 20,160

The number of coronavirus cases in India have risen to 7,19,665 as it recorded 22,252 fresh infections in the last 24 hours. A total of 20,160 coronavirus patients have lost their lives, the Union Health Ministry said on Tuesday.

There are 2,59,557 active cases while 4,39,947 have been cured/discharged, according to Health Ministry data.

Maharashtra remains the worst affected state in the country. The total number of COVID-19 cases has risen to 211987 with 9,026 fatalities.

Tamil Nadu has the second highest COVID-19 cases – 1,14,978 with 1,571 deaths followed by Delhi – 1,00823 and 3,115 deaths, Gujarat – 36,772 cases and 1,960 fatalities and Uttar Pradesh – 28,636 cases and 809 deaths.

A total of 1,02,11,092 samples have been tested up to July 6 of which 2,41,430 samples were tested yesterday, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said.
