Two terrorists were killed in an encounter that broke out on Friday morning between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian.
Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Dairoo area of Shopian following specific information about the presence of terrorists there, a police official said.
The search operation turned into an encounter after terrorists fired upon security forces, who retaliated, official added.
Kashmir Zone Police earlier in a tweet said, “#Encounter has started at Dairoo #Shopian. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow.”
The operation is still going on.
