Pune: “You left me on my birthday… come back.” These emotional words posted on Instagram by Siya Goyal after the death of her fiancé Ketan Agarwal have now gone viral, adding a chilling new dimension to what has emerged as one of Maharashtra’s most shocking murder cases.
Soon after Ketan’s death at Lohagad Fort near Pune, Siya shared an emotional Instagram story mourning his loss. In the post, she wrote that Ketan had left her on her birthday and expressed disbelief over his sudden death. The post also featured photographs and videos of the couple together, giving the impression of a grieving fiancée devastated by tragedy.
However, what initially appeared to be a heartfelt tribute has now come under intense scrutiny after Pune Rural Police arrested Siya Goyal and her alleged partner, Chetan Chaudhary, in connection with Ketan’s death. Investigators claim that Ketan’s death, first believed to be an accidental fall during a trek, was in fact a pre-planned murder.
According to police, Ketan, a director in his family’s real estate business, had gone to Lohagad Fort with Siya on June 18, reportedly to celebrate her birthday. Investigators allege that Siya and Chetan conspired to kill him and push him into a gorge before attempting to portray the incident as an accident. Both accused have been arrested and remanded to police custody.
Police sources further claim that the murder may have been planned in advance and that there were multiple unsuccessful attempts to eliminate Ketan before the fatal incident at Lohagad Fort. Investigators are also probing the motive behind the alleged conspiracy, including reports of a secret relationship between the accused.
The case has sent shockwaves across the country, with the viral Instagram story now becoming a central talking point in a murder mystery marked by love, betrayal and alleged deception. Police continue to investigate whether more people were involved in the conspiracy.
