Gurugram Police have arrested two cyber experts for allegedly fabricating a forensic report linked to the controversial video involving Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, adding a fresh twist to the politically sensitive case.
According to police, the arrests were made following a complaint by a forensic expert who alleged that he was pressured to prepare a report in a particular manner. Investigators claim that the accused were involved in creating and circulating a forged forensic report related to the viral video at the centre of the controversy.
The controversy revolves around a video allegedly linked to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann that had triggered a major political storm in Punjab. While the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has maintained that the video was fabricated and part of a campaign to defame the Chief Minister, opposition parties have questioned the authenticity of the reports produced by the ruling party.
Police sources said the accused, both associated with digital forensic work, have been booked on charges including forgery, cheating and criminal conspiracy. The investigation is also focusing on whether any individuals or organisations had commissioned the alleged fake report and if money changed hands in the process. Reports suggest that investigators are examining allegations that a substantial amount was paid to influence the findings of the forensic analysis.
The case has intensified the ongoing political battle in Punjab, with both the ruling AAP and opposition leaders accusing each other of spreading misinformation. Gurugram Police said further investigation is underway and additional arrests cannot be ruled out.
