With 28,498 new COVID-19 cases, India’s tally over 9 lakh; Death toll at 23,727

The number of coronavirus cases in India have risen to 9,06,752 as it recorded 28,498 fresh infections in the last 24 hours. A total of 23,727 coronavirus patients have lost their lives, the Union Health Ministry said on Tuesday.

There are 3,11,565 active cases while 5,71,459 have been cured/discharged, according to Health Ministry data.

Maharashtra remains the worst affected state in the country. The total number of COVID-19 cases has risen to 2,60,924 with 10,482 fatalities.

Tamil Nadu has the second highest COVID-19 cases – 1,42,798 with 2,032 deaths followed by Delhi – 1,13,740 and 3,411 deaths, Gujarat – 42,722 cases and 2,055 fatalities, Karnataka – 41,581 with 757 deaths and Uttar Pradesh – 38,130 cases and 955 deaths.

A total of 1,20,92,503 samples have been tested up to July 13 of which 2,86,247 samples were tested yesterday, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said.
