West Bengal Governor alleges CM Mamata Banerjee ignored ‘urgent message’

West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar on Monday accused Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of not responding to his late-night message to “speak urgently”.

“Alarming nosediving law and order scenario @MamataOfficial Targeted political killings in spite of alert by Constitutional Head. Neither ACS Home nor DGP @WBPolice responded. To CM at 10.47 PM “Would like to speak to you urgently !” Only silence that speaks volumes,” the Governor tweeted.

BJP leader Manish Shukla was shot dead on Monday evening at Barrackpore, about 20 km from Kolkata, the party has blamed the ruling Trinamool Congress for the killing.

Governor Dhankhar condemned the incident in a tweet on Sunday night and summoned the DGP and home secretary to the Raj Bhawan at 10 am Monday.

“ACS Home @MamataOfficial and DGP @WBPolice have been summoned at 10 am tomorrow in the wake of worsening law and order situation leading to dastardly killing of Manish Shukla, Councillor, Titagarh Municipality in political party office,” Governor Dhankhar tweeted on Sunday.
