Supreme Court to hear pleas against Shaheen Bagh protest on Monday

The Supreme Court on Friday said it would hear on February 10 the pleas against protests at Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh.

The court said it did not want to influence Delhi Polls by hearing the matter on Friday.

Delhi will vote for new government on Saturday.

A bench of justices SK Kaul and KM Joseph said that they will hear the matter on Monday.

“We understand there is a problem and we have to see how to resolve it. We will take it up on Monday. We will be in a better position by then,” the Bench said.

When the petitioner said that voting for the Delhi Assembly Elections is scheduled for February 8 and that postponement meant the case would be heard after the election was complete, to which the bench said, “That is exactly why we are saying, come on Monday. Why should we influence it?”
