Parliament: Government decides to revoke Article 370

Amit Shah on Monday announced in the Parliament that government will revoke Article 370 that grants special status to Jammu and Kashmir. 

After Amit Shah proposed that the regulation under Article 370 will not be applicable after Presidential nod, the Rajya Sabha witnessed massive uproar from the Opposition and account of the ensuing ruckus.

The opposition slammed the Centre over the move.

Earlier, the Union Cabinet met at the official residence of Prime Minister in New Delhi on Monday morning.

Tensions intensified in Jammu and Kashmir after Omar Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti and Sajad Lone were put under house arrest as the authorities-imposed restrictions in several districts in the state.

Internet and mobile services have also been suspended in numerous places and all public assemblies are prohibited in Srinagar district as section 144 was imposed from midnight.
