NIA attaches immovable property of Zahoor Watali in Jammu and Kashmir

The immovable properties of Zahoor Watali who was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in 2017 in connection with a terror funding case were attached by the agency. 

The properties were registered in Watali’s name in Handwara tehsil of Kupwara district in north Kashmir.

The attached properties include land measure 13.3 Marlas, 8.6 Marlas, and 10.3 Marlas. Notices of attachment were erected near the land to inform the public about the action taken.

Prior to this, the NIA had already attached Watali’s house in the Baghat area of Srinagar last month. The attachment of the properties was carried out in accordance with the orders of the special NIA court located at Pataila House Courts in New Delhi.

Watali’s arrest and subsequent attachment of his properties are part of the ongoing investigation into the terror funding case. The NIA has been conducting an extensive probe to uncover and prosecute individuals involved in funding terrorist activities in the region.

NCP appoints Supriya Sule and Praful Patel as new working president of NCP

Praful Patel and Supriya Sule will be the new working Presidents of the party, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) declared today. The party President Sharad Pawar announced it in the 25th anniversary function of the party in New Delhi. The announcement was made in the presence of Ajit Pawar, a key player in NCP.

Supriya Sule who was overwhelmed by this announcement has been given responsibility of Maharashtra, Haryana, Punjab, women youth and Lok sabha coordination. “ I am grateful to NCP president Sharad Pawar and all senior leader and my well wishers for giving me this responsibility” Supriya tweeted. Member of Parliament, Praful Patel who is also grateful to the party has been given responsibilities of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Goa. “ I have been working with Pawar saheb since 1999. So this is not new for me. I am happy to be elevated as working President I will continue to work for the betterment of the party, Praful said.

 NCP chief also said that “Lok Sabha Elections are very important for us. All opposition parties are meeting on 23 June in Bihar to discuss and plan a strategy for the upcoming Elections”. Its’s high time opposition should unite against BJP, he said. NCP leader Chagan Bhujbal said “they have been made the working presidents so that the Election work and Rajya Sabha  and Lok Sabha work can be divided. Keeping in mind the upcoming Lok sabha elections in 2024, Surpiya sule and Praful patel have been allotted more responsibilities, Chagan added.

The Nationalist Congress party was formed by Sharad Pawar and P. A Sangma on 10 June, 1999, had completed its 25 years today. Following which the party organized a function in New Delhi where all senior leaders were president. Many party workers and women workers also gathered to greet their favorite leader Sharad Pawar. The party also felicitated seven leaders of Nagaland that have made it in vidhan sabha this time.    

Priyanka Gandhi will not contest 2024 Elections

In a recent development Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi vadra will not contest the upcoming Lok sabha elections scheduled next year in 2024. According to the sources, this decision was taken in a meeting of senior leaders and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi. Priyanka Gandhi will campaign for the party across the country. Presently preparations are on to send her to The Rajya Sabha From Himachal Pradesh. A Rajya Sabha MP has offered to resign to give way for Ms Gandhi.

 Few days back Former congress president Sonia Gandhi held discussions with some senior leaders of the party about Priyanka Gandhi’s role in elections, where it was decided that she can prove to be a star campaigner. If she contests Elections she would not be able to campaign across the country.

Congress Leader Priyanka Gandhi may also leave the post of UP congress in-charge. She can now be given responsibility of those states where party is weakening along with Uttar Pradesh. Some leaders believe that Congress party will benefit if Ms Gandhi campaigns for their candidates. Her role will be decided before Assembly Elections to be held in five States.

In a joint operation of police and BSF drug worth smuggled from Pakistan seized

Amritsar: In a joint operation of BSF and Punjab Police succeeded to seize five packets of heroin (drug) with gross Weight of 5.260 Kgs which was smuggled to India through drone from Pakistan.

 In an official statement issued here today, BSF official stated that on 09th June at around 0130 AM, BSF intercepted movement of a suspected drone near Village – Rai, District – Amritsar. As per the laid down drill, BSF troops immediately reacted to intercept the drone.

Meanwhile, the depth deployed Police naka party also joined the BSF party and a joint search Ops was launched in the area. During the search, 01 big packet, contraband, wrapped in a yellow-coloured adhesive tape along with one green colour nylon rope and hook attached with the packet was recovered from the farming field on the outskirts of Village – Rear Kakkar, District – Amritsar.

On opening of the big packet, five packets of narcotics wrapped with yellow colored adhesive tape were found. The Gross Weight of 05 packets of heroin was 5.260 Kgs.

Punjab to construct high-security digital jail near Ludhiana: CM Mann

Ludhiana : Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Friday announced the construction of a high-security digital jail over 50 acres of land near Ludhiana for hearing of cases related to dreaded criminals within the jail complex only.

Addressing a gathering after handing over the appointment letters to the newly recruited Jail Warders in Ladda Kothi in Sangrur, the Chief Minister said Rs 100 crore has been approved by the Government of India to set up the digital jail.

He said the judges will have separate cabins in the jail. “The Jail Department will also have its ultra modern office in Mohali for which land has been identified, ” the Chief Minister said.

He said that all-out efforts are being made to modernize the police force on scientific lines. He said Punjab Police are being updated to tackle cyber crime and various new reforms are being introduced.

Mann said high-tech jammers and other equipment are being installed inside the jails to check use of mobile phones from inside the prison.

Likewise, the Chief Minister also announced that anti-drone technology is being introduced in Punjab Police to check the infiltration through drones from across the border.

Mann said that it is a matter of great pride and satisfaction that Punjab Police are the best force across the country. He said massive efforts are being made to transform the police stations by pumping in a number of resources, adding infrastructure in terms of vehicles, weapons and others are also being spruced up in the department.

The Chief Minister reiterated that Punjab will be soon joining hands with multinational Google to update the state police on modern lines. A comprehensive blueprint has already been prepared and the formal agreement will be signed soon.

CM Mann said it will help in enhancing the efficiency of Punjab Police to tackle any sort of unforeseen challenge in the state.

Likewise, the Chief Minister said several initiatives are being taken for reforming the inmates in jails so that they can learn something in life.

Patch up with Pilot is permanent, says CM Ashok Gehlot

After a patch up meeting held in Delhi recently, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot for the first time has reacted, and said that ‘reconciliation with Sachin Pilot is permanent’.

“Rahul Gandhi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, state in-charge Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and Organisation General Secretary K.C. Venugopal made us sit and talk, ” he said further.

“The question is not personal, but it is of the country. Today Congress is the need of the country, ” he explained further.

Regarding the Manesar case, the CM said, “I have forgiven everyone. As soon as I left the hotel in Jaisalmer, I said “forget it, go ahead.”

The CM said that he has known Pilot since the age of two and a half years. Pilot himself told this to him during the reconciliation meeting held in Delhi, he added.

In an interview to a media house going viral on social media, he said, he also spoke on the demand of Pilot, and said, “RPSC committee is constitutional and hence cannot be dissolved.

“He is a member of our party, so his words carry more weight. We had inquired after his demand but there is no such provision that we should dissolve the RPSC committee. This is a constitutional matter, ” he added.

Speaking on the issue of Congress’s MLAs calling a parallel meeting on September 25, 2022, he said, “It was unimaginable for me not to pass the resolution given by the then Congress President Sonia Gandhi. Then after visiting Tanot Mata temple, I had also told the media that the two-line proposal has to be passed.”

“When we reached Jaipur, we came to know that MLAs had gathered at Dhariwal ji’s house. Perception was made that why I am getting this done. Even though I didn’t know. I want to say that the Congress of Rajasthan has always been with high command. I would do anything for that family. Whatever be the situation, I am ready to do anything for this family, ” he added.

Nitin Gadkari inaugurates two-lane Jaiswal Bridge in Jammu and Kashmir

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari announced the completion of the two-lane Jaiswal Bridge over River Chenab on the Udhampur-Ramban section of NH-44 in Jammu and Kashmir. 

The bridge, constructed at a cost of ₹20 crore, spans 118 meters and is a cantilever bridge.

Gadkari took to Twitter to emphasize the significance of this infrastructure milestone, highlighting its dual purpose.

“The establishment of this bridge serves a dual purpose. Firstly, it will alleviate congestion along the Chanderkot to Ramban section, ensuring smoother vehicular movement. Secondly, it will facilitate the seamless passage of vehicles and pilgrim traffic during the ‘Shri Amarnath Yatra’ on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway 44, which is scheduled to commence shortly,” he tweeted.

Expressing his commitment to the development of exceptional highway infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir, Gadkari praised the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He stated that this transformative development not only contributes to the region’s economic growth but also enhances its allure as a prime tourist destination.

The completion of the Jaiswal Bridge is expected to provide relief to commuters and pilgrims, especially during the Amarnath Yatra, a significant annual pilgrimage in the region. Tikait slams lathicharge on farmers demanding crop MSP, threatens larger agitation

Chandigarh: Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait on Wednesday threatened an larger agitation than the yearlong protest against the now repealed farm laws if the government didn’t announce a legal guarantee of the minimum support price (MSP) for procurement of crops.

Tikait, who reached Shahabad in Haryana’s Kurukshetra district, to extend support to the agitating farmers and those who were arrested, condemned the police lathicharge on protesting farmers who had blocked a national highway a day earlier demanding that the Haryana government should procure sunflower seeds at the MSP.

Claiming that the MSP for crops is a pan-India issue, he said, “This is the first lathicharge in the country on those demanding MSP.”

“The struggle that began in Shahabad would reach the national level as every farmer is concerned about the MSP for different crops. An agitation bigger than the one in Delhi will have to be undertaken for the MSP, ” Tikait told the media in Karnal.

Nine leaders of the BKU (Charuni) faction, including its president Gurnam Singh Charuni, were arrested on Tuesday evening for blocking the national highway 44 connecting Chandigarh with Delhi.

Charged for rioting, unlawful assembly and using of criminal force to deter public servant from discharging the duty, the leaders were sent to judicial custody on Wednesday.

On the wrestlers’ protest in Delhi, Tikait said the farmer unions were in favour of talks being held between the government and the grapplers to resolve the issue.

A day after the police baton-charged and used water cannon to get protesting farmers evicted from the national highway, farmers owing allegiance with the Bhartiya Kisan Union (Charuni) staged a sit-in protest for a second day against the arrest of leaders.

The farmers have been demanding the BJP-led state government should begin the procurement of sunflower seeds at the MSP of Rs 6, 400 per quintal.

The farmers say they are selling the produce at Rs 4, 000 per quintal to private buyers against the MSP of Rs 6, 400. Also they demand the government to withdraw its decision to procure sunflower seeds for Rs 1, 000 per quintal under the Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana.

PM Modi instrumental in fulfilling demands of Sikhs, says Sikh American leader

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been instrumental in fulfilling the demands and wishes of the Sikh community from the US, an influential Sikh American leader has said.

Jassee Singh, Chairman of the ‘Sikhs of America’ oraganisation founded to raise awareness about the community, said the official state visit of Modi to the US later this month is a “historic moment” for India. Prime Minister Modi will embark on his first state visit to the US at the invitation of President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden this month. The US president and the First Lady will also host Modi at a state dinner on June 22.

Chargesheet in FIR against outgoing WFI Chief to be submitted by June 15 : Thakur

New Delhi:  Sports Minister Anurag Thakur on Wednesday said a Chargesheet in the case into the allegations of sexual harassment against outgoing WFI Chief Brijbhushan Sharan Singh will be filed by June 15.

Addressing a press conference after a marathon meeting with the protesting wrestlers, Thakur also assured that the elections to the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) will be held by June 30.

Noting that the government has accepted every demand of the wrestlers, he said WFI will also have an internal complaints committee, headed by a woman.

Thakur said the wrestlers had also demanded the withdrawal of cases against various academies and sportspersons as well as not allowing Singh and his associates to participate in the election process.

“All these issues were agreed by consensus,” the sports minister said.

Asked about the wrestlers’ demand for Singh’s arrest, Thakur said the investigation into the case will be completed and a chargesheet will be filed by June 15.

This was the second meeting between the government and protesting wrestlers in a span of five days. The wrestlers had met Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday night and apprised him of their demands.
