Andhra Pradesh to give Rs 1000 allowance per month to unemployed youth

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on September 11 announced the launch of ‘Yuva Nestam Scheme’ on October 2, to provide unemployment allowance of Rs 1000 each to empower youth. The major motive behind the scheme is to empower the youth by providing skill development and self-employment opportunities.

Chief Minister Naidu said, “The state government has been providing skill development training to 10 lakh youth and providing employment opportunities to them. Nearly 260 training partners were appointed to train and provide employment opportunities to youth. The training partners were appointed from Singapore, Germany and UK too.”

Discussing the ‘Yuva Nestam Scheme’ the chief minister asks youth to keep their attitude positive and strive to learn new things on a continuous basis by updating skills using technology.

The CM further said that the state government is encouraging industrialization to provide employment opportunities to youth and improve the economy.

Chief Minister Naidu also added that ‘Jnana Bheri’, ‘Yuva Nestam Scheme’ and skill development programs all are aimed at empowering the youth of the state. 

UP: Six dead, several injured in chemical factory blast in Bijnor

Six people were killed and several others injured in a gas tank explosion at a chemical factory in Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh, on Wednesday.

Senior officials rushed to the spot and are overseeing the relief and rescue operations.

According to Bijnor Superintendent of Police (SP) Umesh Kumar Singh, the incident happened at Mohit Petro Chemical Factory situated on the Dehat Marg in the morning.

Singh said six labourers died on the spot while injured were rushed to the district hospital where their condition is said to be critical. He said efforts are on trace the missing people.

As per information, the chemical tank had been leaking for the past few days. Today, while it was being repaired, there was a blast in the boiler while welding work was going on, Singh said.

Those killed were identified as Kamalveer, Lokendra, Ravi, Chetram, Vikrant and Bal Govind, an official said.

Afghanistan: 58 Taliban militants killed in southern Afghan

At least 58 Taliban militants were killed and several others injured following air and ground operations in Uruzgan and Kandahar, the southern Afghan provinces, officials said on Wednesday.

On Tuesday evening, more than 100 Taliban militants attacked two security posts on Uruzgan province’s main roadway. However, they fled the area as the security forces retaliated appropriately.

According to the provincial police chief, it left 40 militants dead.

Moreover, in Talayee area of the provincial capital Tirin Kot, at least seven armed Taliban fighters were killed when the army shelled artillery on their hideouts.

In neighbouring Kandahar province, late on Tuesday, a joint Afghan and US-led NATO coalition air operation killed another 11 militants and wounded an equal number, provincial police chief Abdul Razeq said.

Centre issues advisory against deadly ‘Momo challenge’, asks parents to be alert

The Ministry of Women and Child Development (WCD) on September 11 issued an advisory against the ‘Momo challenge’ and asked the parents to monitor their children’s online and social media activity to ensure they are not engaging in this deadly game.

Momo is a social media account on WhatsApp, Facebook, and YouTube, which uses the image of a horror artwork to induce curiosity among children. It further challenges children to communicate with an unknown number and consists of variety of self-harming dares and it finally ends with a suicide challenge. The account appears to be connected to three numbers in Japan.

If in case a user refuses to follow the game’s orders, Momo threatens them with violent images.

“Monitor your children’s online and social media activity to ensure they are not engaging with this challenge. Parents should take reports from child counselor present in the school at regular intervals,” advisory reads.

WCD Ministry urges parents to keep their eyes open to check for their child’s involvement in the game.

Ministry advised parents not to mention or disclose about the Momo challenge unless the child already knows about it, the advisory said that by doing so would increase the chance that the child will search for it on their own.

Ministry asked parents to remain alert and keep a continuous check on sudden increase in new phone numbers and email contacts in their device.

Ministry advised parents to install a good cyber or mobile parenting software which helps them in monitoring children.

PM announces launch of Swachhata Hi Seva Movement

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 12 announced the launch of the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva Movement’ from September 15 and urged everyone to be part of the movement to pay tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th birth anniversary this year.

PM Modi tweeted, “The ‘Swachhata Hi Seva Movement’ commences on 15th September. This is a great way to pay tributes to Bapu. Come, be a part of this movement and strengthen the efforts to create a Swachh Bharat!”

“On 2nd October we mark the start of Gandhi Ji’s 150th birth anniversary. It is also the day Swachh Bharat Mission completes 4 years of being a historic mass movement aimed at fulfilling Bapu’s dream of a Clean India. I salute all those working towards a Swachh Bharat!,” PM tweeted.

PM Modi while adding the details on the commencement of the movement said, “At 9:30 AM on 15th, we shall come together and mark the commencement of the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva Movement.’ I look forward to interacting with those who have worked assiduously on the ground to strengthen the Swachh Bharat Mission after which Swachhata activities will begin.”

PM urges schoolchildren, college students, women, NSS, NCC, Nehru Yuva Kendra, self-help organisations, housing societies, government officials, widely popular faces of our country, and even media groups to start planning for the day from now and be a part of the prestigious movement.

While lauding the success of the Swaccha Bharat Mission which was launched in 2014 PM Modi said, “Today, more than 4.25 lakhs of Villages, 430 Zilas, 2800 Cities and towns, and 19 states have been declared Open Defecation Free (ODF). You will feel happy to know that the WHO has said that almost 3 lakhs of minors have probably survived only by using toilets after the Swaccha Bharat Mission.”

High alert after militants open fire at police checkpost on Jammu-Srinagar highway

An encounter was reported on Wednesday morning between security forces and militants on the Jammu-Srinagar highway in Udhampur district, police said.

The incident took place at Jajhar Kotli, when three militants travelling in truck from Jammu to Srinagar opened fire at the paramilitary troopers who were positioned at checkpost for a routine checking.

According to the Jammu SSP, militants were intercepted and they fired on the security forces.

As per the reports, a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) trooper and a forest guard were injured in a firing.

Militants abandoned the vehicle after the firing and fled from the spot.

The police officials have seized the truck.

An alert has been announced on the national highway after the incident.

Chinese Army transgressed into India Territory thrice in August

China’s People Liberation Army (PLA) in yet another attempt transgressed the Line of Actual Control (LAC) at least three times in Uttarakhand state in August, as per the reports.

Sources claimed that in Barahoti village in Chamoli District in Uttarakhand, the Chinese troops came as far as 4 km deep into the Indian Territory.

The transgression took place on three separate occasions August 6, 14, and 15.

Earlier in August, a group of Chinese Army personnel transgressed around 300 metres into the Demchok area and pitched four tents.

Speaking on transgressions earlier this year, Lt Gen Ranbir Singh, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC) Northern Command, said, “it took place in areas where we have different perception of the Line of Actual Control.”

Similar incidents occurred in July 25, 2017 reportedly Chinese border guards entered one kilometre into Indian Territory and threatened shepherds grazing cattle in the Barahoti village in Chamoli District.

Following the latest attempts, official figures revealed that the number of transgressions by the Chinese Army into the Indian Territory rose to 426 in 2017 from the 273 in 2016.

Earthquake in Assam, tremors felt in entire northeast

Tremors were felt in northeastern parts of India at around 10:00 am on Wednesday after an earthquake measuring 5.6 magnitude on Richter scale struck Assam’s Kokrajhar area.

The earthquake was felt in West Bengal, including Kolkata as well as Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling, Cooch Behar, Malda and Mushidabad.

In Bihar, tremors were felt in Patna, Purnea, Kishanganj and Katihar.

Sikkim, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur also felt the intensity of the quake.

No loss of life or damage to property has been reported so far.

Earlier in the day at around 5:15 am, light tremors were felt in Jammu and Kashmir after an earthquake measuring 4.6 magnitude on Richter scale hit the state. Meanwhile, an earthquake of magnitude 3.1 hit the Jhajjar area in Haryana at 5:45 am on Wednesday.

Punjab to supply pigs to Nagaland, to earn Rs 200 Crore annually

Chandigarh, September 12, 2018: Punjab will soon start supplying 8000 live pigs every month to Nagaland.

After a meeting with a delegation of the Nagaland governmment, Punjab’s Animal Husbandry minister Balbir Singh Sidhu said the arrangement would yield Rs 200 Crore revenue to his government annually.

The memorandum of understanding in this regard will be signed in the coming days.

According to Sidhu, the delegation expressed keen interest in importing live pigs from Punjab as the people of Nagaland consider pork meat of Punjab full of  nutritious value, hygienic and healthy as compare to the pork of others part of the country.

To start with 100 live pigs will be sent for exhibiting at different places of Nagaland to create interest among the people and to generate more demand.

The Punjab government will issue health certificates of these pigs.

The deliberations for the supply of Punjab’s chicken and fish to the Nagaland were also held during the meeting. Proposal to impart training in Punjab to the progressive farmers and veterinary doctors of Nagaland was also put forward by the minister before the visiting delegation.

The  Nagaland delegation included Principal Secretary to the Government Lhoubeilatuo Kire, Advisor Bongkhao Konyak, Joint Director Dr. Anungla Imdong Phom, Advisor Marketing Rajpal Singh Arora and Consultant Richard Belho.

Delhi police head constable shot dead in Jaitpur area

In a shocking incident, Delhi Police head constable was gunned down early on Wednesday by unidentified miscreants near his residence in Southeast Delhi’s Jaitpur area, police said.

The deceased police officer was identified as Ram Avtaar. He was shot, when he went out to fetch an autorickshaw for a family member on Tanki Road in Mithapur area, the police added.

He was taken to Apollo Hospital soon after the incident but succumbed to his injuries.

Ram Avtar was posted in Ambedkar Nagar police station and lived at Shakti Vihar near Jaitpur police station.

Meanwhile, the police are investigating the matter, the identity or motive of culprits is yet to be ascertained.
