Prashant Kishor joins JD(U)

Poll strategist Prashant Kishor launched his political career on Sunday, by joining Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United).

The 41-year-old was inducted into the party during JDU’s state executive meeting at Anne Marg in Patna, the official residence of Bihar Chief Minister.

According to the Sources in JD(U), Nitish Kumar’s decision to induct Prashant Kishore is a signal that the party will bargain hard with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), its ally, for contesting seats in the 2019 elections.

There might be a possibility that Kishor will contest from the Buxar parliamentary seat as a JD(U) nominee, but that decision has not been finalised.

Kishor, who runs the Indian Political Action Committee, works on political strategy, personal leadership branding, macro and micro campaign events, communication, messaging and speeches among others.

He worked with Narendra Modi during the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Gujarat 2012 campaign and the Lok Sabha 2014 election, but later developed differences and went his separate way to working for BJP’s political rivals, including the Grand Alliance in Bihar and the Congress in Punjab.
