Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh arrived on Tuesday in Jammu and Kashmir to review the overall security situation in the state, particularly in Kashmir Valley and along the India-Pakistan border, an official said.
During the day-long visit, Rajnath Singh will attend a high-level meeting with Governor Satya Pal Mailk at the Raj Bhawan along with senior officials from civil administration, police and security forces officials and assess the prevailing situation in the state.
Rajnath will also meet leaders of political parties and representatives of some civil society groups in Jammu and Kashmir.
The visit of Rajnath Singh to the State comes following the urban local body and the panchayat elections.
Unrest in state has been continuing with incidents of violence perpetrated by terror groups.
