BJP’s Chinmayanand questioned for 7 hours in alleged rape case

BJP leader and former Union minister Swami Chinmayanand was questioned by the police on Thursday night for around seven hours after a law student and her family alleged that he had blackmailed her and raped her for over a year.

Chinmayanand was questioned by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed on the orders of Supreme Court.

The law student has alleged that the BJP leader, whose organisation runs several colleges filmed her, blackmailed her and sexually assaulted her for a year.

The questioning came a day after the law student’s father claimed that some vital evidence that could prove their claims had gone missing.

The case surfaced when the student posted a video in which she had appealed to PM Modi and UP CM Yogi Adityanath for their intervention to ensure justice to her. She also said that Chinmayanand had ruined the lives of several students and she had evidence against him, which was why she was requesting the PM and the CM to help her out.

The law student went missing after posting a video. A week later, the woman was tracked down to Rajasthan. The top court asked the police to produce the student hours after she was found and spoke to her in a closed hearing the same day.
