An encounter broke out on Monday between security forces and terrorists in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Kashmir Zone Police in a tweet said, “#Encounter has started at #Shopian. Police & security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow.”
Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the area after receiving specific information about the presence of terrorists there.
The operation turned into an encounter after the terrorists fired upon security forces, who retaliated, an official said.
