India’s COVID-19 cases rise to 13,36,861; Death toll at 31,358

The number of coronavirus cases in India have risen to 13,36,861 as it recorded 48,916 fresh infections in the last 24 hours. A total of 31,358 coronavirus patients have lost their lives, the Union Health Ministry said on Saturday.

There are 4,56,071 active cases while 8,49,431 have been cured/discharged, according to Health Ministry data.

Maharashtra remains the worst affected state in the country. The total number of COVID-19 cases has risen to 3,57,117 with 13,132 fatalities.

Tamil Nadu has the second highest COVID-19 cases – 1,99,749 with 3,320 deaths followed by Delhi – 1,28,389 and 3,777 deaths, Karnataka – 85,870 with 1,724 deaths, Andhra Pradesh – 80,858 and 933 deaths, Uttar Pradesh – 60,771 and 1,348 deaths West Bengal – 53,973 and 1,290 deaths and Gujarat – 53,545 and 2,278 fatalities.

Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) on Saturday said a total of 1,58,49,068 samples have been tested up to July 24 of which 4,20,898 samples were tested yesterday.
