Expelled SAD leaders to float new political outfit

Expelled Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leaders on Sunday announced to float a parallel ‘Akali Dal’.

MP from Khadoor Sahib Ranjit Singh Brahmpura, former MP Dr Rattan Singh Ajnala and former minister Sewa Singh Sekhwan said, “they would float a new political outfit based on the Akali Dal’s old constitution, which was framed in 1920.”

The announcement came in less than a month after SAD expelled them from the party.

The trio said that the future line of action will be announced on December 14, which happens to be the foundation day of SAD.

“A big announcement would be made on December 14, which is also the day when the SAD was formed in 1920.”

The trio had also called upon the non-Akali parties, including the various Sikh organisations, expelled Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Sukhpal Singh Khiara, and the Bains brothers, to join hands with them.

The trio accused SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal and his brother-in-law Bikram Singh Majithia of causing irreparable damage to SAD. They further alleged that the people of Punjab had given power to SAD in 2007 and 2012, “but the family of Parkash Singh Badal and Bikram Singh Majithia had grabbed the control of party and put their family interests above the interests of the people and Punjab.
