COVID-19 cases in India rise to 2,46,628, Death toll at 6,929

India’s COVID-19 cases has risen to 2,46,628 with 6,929 fatalities. There are 1,20,406 active cases while 1,19,292 have been cured/discharged, the Health Ministry said on Sunday.

Maharashtra remains the worst affected state in the country. The total number of COVID-19 cases has jumped to 82,968 with 2,969 fatalities, according to Health Ministry.

Tamil Nadu continues to be the second-worst hit state with 30,152 Covid-19 cases and 251 deaths, followed by Delhi with 27,654 cases and 761 deaths, Gujarat – 19,592 cases and 1,219 fatalities.

A total of 46,66,386 samples have been tested as on June 7, of which 1,42,069 samples have been tested in last 24 hours, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said.
