Kuldeep Sengar convicted in Unnao rape case

Expelled BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar was on Monday convicted by Delhi Court for raping a young girl from Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao.

The quantum of punishment will be pronounced on December 17.

Sengar, a four-time BJP MLA, was expelled from the party in August 2019.

The case was heard on a day-to-day basis since August at Delhi’s Tis Hazari court after it was transferred to Delhi from a Lucknow court on the Apex Court’s directions.

In July this year, the rape survivor’s car was hit by a truck and she was severely injured. The woman’s two aunts were also killed in the accident.

They were travelling to Rae Bareli when the incident happened.

A murder case was registered by the CBI on her family’s suspicion that the car crash was a murder conspiracy.
