Attari-Wagah Retreat Ceremony Cancelled for Friday

The daily Retreat ceremony at the Attari-Wagah border front between India and Pakistan was “cancelled” on Friday in the wake of IAF Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman’s release from Pakistan.

A senior official said the BSF had cancelled the event due to security reasons.

Scores of enthusiastic people assembled at the border today to receive Indian Air Force (IAF) pilot Abhinandan.

The Wing Commander was captured by Pakistan on Wednesday after his plane went down during an aerial battle over the Line of Control (LoC).

Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan yesterday announced that they would release IAF pilot as a “peace gesture”.
