A Vishwa Hindu Mahasabha leader was shot dead on Sunday morning while he was out on a morning walk in Lucknow’s Hazratganj area.
Police official said, Ranjeet Bachchan was killed in an area which falls under the jurisdiction of the Hazratganj police station.
Bachchan a resident of Gorakhpur, was on a morning walk when bike-borne assailants opened fire on him and killed him on the spot. He received multiple bullet injuries in the head.
Bachchan’s brother, who was with him at the time of the incident, also received bullet injuries and has been admitted to a hospital.
This is the second killing of a Hindu leader in the state capital in the past four months.
Kamlesh Tiwari, president of the Hindu Samaj Party, was shot dead in his office in October last year.
