Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Union minister Smriti Irani on Saturday visited Barolia village in Amethi to meet the family members of BJP worker Surendra Singh, who was killed recently.
“Met the family of late Surendra Singh ji at Baraulia village in Amethi, along with Smt. @smritiirani ji,” Sawant said in a tweet.
Sawant said that he had come to work in Amethi in 2014 as a worker, had worked with Surendra Singh and knew him very well.
Former Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar had adopted Barolia in the year 2015 as a Rajya Sabha MP from Uttar Pradesh.
Former village head Surendra Singh was shot dead on May 25. He had worked very closely with Irani in past years.
Amethi is considered a stronghold of the Congress party since years. But, Smriti Irani defeated Rahul Gandhi by 55,120 votes in the recently concluded Lok Sabha Elections.
