Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Dinesh Trivedi on Thursday announced his resignation from Rajya Sabha.
Addressing the Upper House, Trivedi said he feels suffocated in the Mamata Banerjee-led party.
Trivedi said that he was grateful to his party for sending him to the Rajya Sabha, but was feeling suffocated as he was not able to do anything over violence in West Bengal.
“I feel a little suffocated that we’re not able to do anything over violence in the state. My soul tells me that if you can’t do anything sitting here, then you must resign. I will continue to work for people of West Bengal,” Trivedi said.
Trivedi’s resignation came ahead of the Assembly polls in the state. West Bengal will go to polls in April-May this year.
