At least 50 people died on Thursday after a massive landslide at a jade mine in Myanmar’s Kachin state.
Several jade scavengers were feared buried as the landslide took place during their working hours, but exact numbers of casualties are yet to be ascertained.
According to fire service department, the miners were collecting stones in the jade-rich Hpakant area when a muddy wave caused by heavy rain buried them.
The rescue works are being carried out.
