With 19,148 new cases in 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 tally crosses 6 lakh-mark; Death toll at 17,834

The number of coronavirus cases in India have risen to 6,04,641 as it recorded 19,148 fresh infections in the last 24 hours. A total of 17,834 coronavirus patients have lost their lives, the Union Health Ministry said on Thursday.

There are 2,26,947 active cases while 3,59,859 have been cured/discharged, according to Health Ministry data.

Maharashtra remains the worst affected state in the country. The total number of COVID-19 cases has risen to 1,80,298 with 8,053 fatalities.

Tamil Nadu has the second highest COVID-19 cases – 94,049 with 1,264 deaths followed by Delhi – 89,802 and 2,803 deaths, Gujarat – 33,232 cases and 1,867 fatalities and Uttar Pradesh – 24,056 cases and 718 deaths.

A total of 90,56,173 samples have been tested so far of which 2,29,588 samples have been tested in the last 24 hours, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said.
