CISF security personnel hits Metro staff, DMRC briefly suspends Blue line services

Delhi Metro Railway corporation (DMRC) services on the Blue Line, which runs between Dwarka Sector-21 and Janakpuri West were temporarily suspended on the night of May 31  for over half an hour following a scuffle between metro staff and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel over the parking issue.

The services were suspended after a station manager was beaten up by CISF security personnel.
Sources revealed the incident which occured at around 12:30 pm was triggered by an argument that ensued when a tyre of a vehicle apparently belonging to the CISF was “deflated” since it was parked in the “unauthorised zone” outside the premises of Dwarka Sector 21 station.

CISF personnel then asked a DMRC staff as to why was it done. The staff told him that since it was parked illegally, the station manager had ordered to deflate the tyre,” according to reports. Following this the station manager was thrashed and beaten up.

The station manager alleged that he was assaulted by a CISF sub-inspector when he objected to the officer parking his motorcycle in a specific area.

DMRC later filed a police complaint.

“An inquiry has been ordered and action will be taken based on its findings,” CISF spokesperson said.

However, CISF spokesperson maintained that thrashing initiated only after the station manager had verbally abused the CISF personnel.

DMRC official confirms the services on the line from Janakpuri West to Noida City Centre and Vaishali were running normal.

Massive fire breaks out in Delhi’s Malviya Nagar, no casualty reported

A massive fire broke out in a rubber godown at around 5 pm on May 29 in South Delhi’s Malviya Nagar area. No casualty was reported during the incident, an official claimed.

According to a Police official, a truck loaded with rubber material parked near the godown caught fire. Plastic and other raw material stored in the factory fuelled the fire.

Fire officials said this fire was of the highest magnitude so far in this season. They further added that the fire also partially engulfed a school building and a gymnasium. The Air Force has joined the efforts accompanied by Delhi Police personnel, Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) staff and firefighters. At least 35 fire tenders were rushed to the spot to slow down the blaze. Thirteen buildings in the vicinity, including the school and a gym, have been evacuated for safety.

“Fire might caused a portion of the school building to collapse,” fire chief GC Mishra said.

The area is residential and the fire could have easily engulfed houses. The godowns next to school buildings are illegal. The situation could have been worse,” a resident said.

The local AAP councilor had complained to south Delhi municipal officials, but no action was taken said AAP legislator Saurabh Bhardwaj.

Aam Aadmi Party legislator Somnath Bharti also visited the spot. “The incident brings to fore his pending demand of a fire station nearby. On whether the godown was being illegally run,” Bharti said it is a matter of investigation.
