Pakistan attacks India at UN, blames RSS centres for breeding terrorism

A day after Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on the side lines of United Nation General assembly (UNGA) criticized Islamabad for harboring and glorifying terrorists, Pakistan’s envoy to the UN Saad Warraich on September 30 targeted Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at the UN. Exercising the Right of Reply, Pakistan’s envoy Warraich accused the RSS, BJP’s ideological mentor, of supporting the spread of fascism through its centres.

Pakistan envoy Warraich said, “The breeding ground of terrorism in our region is the RSS centres of Fascism and the claims of religious superiority are perpetrated through straight patronage all across India.”

Warraich further said, “Members of India’s minorities, including Christians and Muslims, are publically lynched at the hands of Hindus elites, where an unabashed Hindu extremist Yogi Adityanath, who openly supports the superiority of the Hindus, serves as the face of the largest Indian state Uttar Pradesh.”

India gave a befitting reply to Pakistan on its claim of fighting terrorism, and even asked the Pakistan if it could deny the fact that was the host and sponsor of 132 of the UN-designated terrorists and 22 terrorist entities under the 1267 and the 1988 UN Security Council sanctions regime.

“Let me recollect for Pakistan’s new government, the out-pouring of sorrow and pain in India that followed the massacre of innocent school children. India’s parliament had expressed solidarity while paying respect to the memory of those killed. Schools all over India had observed two minutes silence in their memory,” Eenam Gambhir, India’s first secretary in permanent mission of India to UN.

She added, “Will Pakistan deny that UN-designated terrorist Hafiz Saeed enjoys a free run inside Pakistan, spews venom & sets up candidates for electoral offices?”

Subsidised LPG Price Hiked by Rs 2.89, to Cost Rs 502.4 Per Cylinder

The price of subsidised cooking gas (LPG) on Sunday was hiked by Rs 2.89 in Delhi to cost Rs 502.4 per cylinder.

Moreover, the non-subsidised LPG price was increased by Rs 59.00 per cylinder, mainly due to change in international price and foreign exchange fluctuations, a statement released by Indian Oil Corporation (IOC).

It further said that the actual impact on subsidised domestic LPG customers is only Rs 2.89 per cylinder, which is mainly due to GST.

The subsidy transfer in customers’ bank account in October will increase to Rs 376.60 per cylinder as against Rs 320.49 per cylinder in September 2018.

“Therefore, the domestic subsidised LPG customer is protected against the increase in prices of LPG,” the statement said.

However, fuel price continues to increase across the country with Petrol being sold at Rs 83.73 per litre in Delhi and Rs 91.08 per litre in Mumbai. As well as the price of Diesel climbed up as it was retailed at Rs 75.09 per litre in Delhi and Rs 79.72 per litre in Mumbai.

Rafale fighter jets won’t be part of Bengaluru air show in February 2019, says IAF

The Indian Air Force (IAF) official on September 30 said that Rafale fighter jets India ordered would not be ready to fly at the Bengaluru air show in February 2019.

Air Marshal R.K. Singh Bhadauria, deputy chief of Air Staff, said, “Rafale for India will not be ready by February. We expect Dassault to fly some other Rafale at the Aero India show here on February 20-24, 2019.”

French aerospace Dassault Aviation is set to deliver 36 Rafale multi-role medium combat aircraft to the IAF in fly-away condition from September 2019 onwards.

Air Marshal Bhadauria further added, “We hope Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate it though the Ministry of Defence will take a call on it.”

Bhadauria added that the state-run Hindustan Aeronautics Limited will play a major role in organising the air show 2019, instead of the Defence Exhibition Organisation which has been hosting the event over the years.

In the air show the advanced fourth generation fighter Rafale will partly replace the ageing Russian-built MiG-21 jets.

Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan questions indefinite reservation

Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan on Sunday expressed doubts over the effectiveness of offering reservation in education and jobs for an indefinite period, saying even the Father of the Indian Constitution, BR Ambedkar wanted quotas for only 10 years.

“The idea of Ambedkarji was to bring social harmony by introducing reservation for only 10 years. However, what we do is to extend the reservation every 10 years. There is a shortcoming,” Sumitra Mahajan said on the concluding day at the “Lok Manthan” event in Ranchi.

She further said that reservations alone will not be able to uplift the people and change the socio-economic structure of the country. She emphasized the need to follow Dr BR Ambedkar to bring social harmony in society and the country.

Commenting on patriotism, Mahajan urged the people to strengthen their spirit of patriotism to ensure overall development of the country.

On gender equality, she said, “”Respect to women is of great importance and should not be looked down. Women is an important part of society and without her, society will not move ahead.

Moreover, she said all citizens should come forward to participate in the process of nation-building.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das, state Assembly Speaker Dinesh Oraon among others were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, PM Modi thanked the people of Anand for turning out in such large numbers.

He said the development projects being inaugurated today augur well for the cooperative sector. He said the brand of Amul is known globally, and has become an inspiration worldwide. He said Amul is not only about milk processing, but an excellent model of empowerment. Prime Minister said that through cooperatives, Sardar Patel showed a way where neither Government nor industrialists call the shots. He said it is a unique model, where the people matter. He said endeavours in the cooperative sector in Gujarat have helped the people, especially the farmers. He also recalled Sardar Patel’s emphasis on urban development.

PM Modi hails Indian Armed forces in 48th episode of Mann Ki Baat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday addressed the nation in 48th episode of Mann Ki Baat.

PM Modi in his address expressed solidarity with soldiers, and said, “There must be hardly any Indian who doesn’t feel proud of our Armed Forces, our army jawans, our soldiers. Every Indian, irrespective of region, caste, religion, sect or language, is ever eager to express joy and show solidarity with our soldiers. Yesterday, one hundred and twenty-five crore Indians celebrated the ParaakramParva, the festival of Valour. We remembered that surgical strike carried out in 2016, where our soldiers gave a befitting reply to the audacity of a proxy war under the garb of terrorism. At various places in the country, exhibitions have been organised by our Armed Forces in order to apprise the maximum number of citizens, especially the younger generation, of the might we possess; how capable we are and how our soldiers risk their lives to protect us citizens. A day such as ParaakaramPrava reminds our youth of the glorious heritage of our Army. It also inspires us to maintain the unity & integrity of the country. I too participated in a programme held at Jodhpur in the land of the valiant, Rajasthan. It has now been decided that our soldiers will give a befitting reply to whosoever makes an attempt to destroy the atmosphere of peace and progress in our Nation. We staunchly believe in peace; we are committed to taking it forward… but NOT at the cost of compromising our self-respect and sovereignty of our Nation. India has always been resolutely committed to peace. In the two world-wars fought in the 20th century, over a lakh of our soldiers made the Supreme Sacrifice; that too in a war where we were not involved in any way. We have never eyed someone else’s territory maliciously. This in itself was our commitment & dedication towards peace. A few days ago, on the 23rd of September, on the occasion of the centenary of the Battle of Haifa in Israel, we remembered & paid tributes to our brave soldiers of Mysore, Hyderabad & Jodhpur Lancers who had freed Haifa from the clutches of oppressors. This too was an act of valour on part of our soldiers on the path to peace. Even today, India is one of the largest contributors to various United Nations Peace Keeping Forces in terms of sending forces personnel. For decades, our brave soldiers wearing blue helmets have played a stellar role in ensuring maintenance of World Peace.

Speaking about the might of Indian Air Force, PM said, “the sky offers the rarest of hues. It is not at all surprising that the Indian Air Force has proved itself to be the cynosure of every citizen’s eye, through the display of sheer might in the skies. It has bestowed upon us a sense of security. One of the notable features eagerly awaited by spectators during the Republic Day Parade is the Flypast comprising the magnificent display of the might of our Air Force through their breath taking aerobatic manoeuvres,” PM added. “We celebrate Air Force Day on the 8th of October. Making a humble beginning in 1932 with six pilots and 19 Airmen, our Air Force has emerged as one of mightiest and the bravest Air Force of the 21st century today. From the core of my heart, I congratulate those Air Warriors and their families who rendered service to the nation. In 1947, when Pakistani attackers resorted to an unprecedented attack, it was indeed our Air Force which ensured that Indian Soldiers and armaments reached the battlefield promptly. The Air Force also retaliated befittingly in 1965 too. Who does not know about the Bangladesh Freedom Struggle of 1971? The Air Force played a very significant role in 1999 by pushing back the intruders and liberating Kargil from their clutches. The Air Force defeated the enemy at Tiger Hill by carrying out air sorties on their positions round the clock. Be it the relief and rescue work or disaster management, our country is indebted to our Air Force for the commendable efforts of our Air Warrior. They have always displayed a unique spirit in times of natural calamities like storms, cyclones, floods and forest fires to extend full assistance to our countrymen. The Air Force has set an example in ensuring gender equality and has opened its doors for our daughters of India. Now, the Air Force is offering the option of Permanent Commission to Women besides the Short Service Commission, which I had announced on the 15th of August this year from the Red Fort,” PM Modi said.

Talking about the role of Women in  the armed forces, PM Modi said, “Indian can proudly claim that in the armed forces, our Army not only man-power but woman-power too is contributing equally. Women are already empowered and now getting armed too.”

PM Modi also talked about the courage of Navy officer Abhilash Tomy, in his address, he said “Officer AbhilashTomy of our Navy was struggling between life and death. The whole country was concerned about saving Tomy. You know,  AbhilashTomy is a very courageous, brave soldier. He was the first Indian who set on a global voyage in a small boat without any modern technology. For the last 80 days, he was moving ahead in South Indian Ocean to participate in the Golden Globe Race maintaining his speed but suddenly a severe cyclonic storm landed him in trouble. Yet, this brave heart from the Navy kept struggling for many days in mid-ocean. He fought to be afloat without food or drink. He did not accept defeat and continued to fight death. A rare example of courage, determination, strength and bravery – a few days ago I talked to Abhilash over the telephone after he was rescued and brought safely ground. I had met Tomy earlier too Despite having faced such a tough situation; his grit & spirit, his determination to make another similar attempt is an inspiration for our younger generation. I pray for Tomy’s sound health and I am sure that his courage, bravery and resolve to fight and emerge a winner will inspire our younger generation.”
