One terrorist, 2 security personnel injured in encounter in J&K’s Reasi

One terrorist was killed, while two security personnel sustained injuries in an encounter in Reasi district on Monday. The encounter is still ongoing and the security forces are looking for another terrorist who is believed to be holed up there.

The encounter began in the remote Gali Sohab village of the Tuli area during a cordon and search operation. This operation was prompted by specific intelligence indicating the presence of two terrorists in the area.

During the initial exchange of gunfire, one terrorist was neutralized, and a police officer and Army jawan was injured. The security forces are actively working to neutralize the second terrorist.

Both injured security personnel have been taken to the hospital for treatment. The encounter unfolded around 2 pm when a joint team comprising police, Army, and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel surrounded a house where the terrorists had taken shelter. This followed information received about their presence in the house after they had forcibly entered it on the night between Sunday and Monday.

The identity and affiliation of the terrorists will be determined once the operation concludes.

The border districts of Poonch and Rajouri have witnessed several encounters this year, resulting in the deaths of approximately 20 terrorists and 10 security personnel.
