Mandi House: Students gather to protest against Citizenship Law

The students of Jamia Millia University have gathered at Mandi House to protest against citizenship law and NRC on Tuesday. Section 144 has been imposed in Mandi House area. Students are preparing to march from Mandi House to Sansad Marg and Jantar-Mantar. 

In view of the students’ march, the police have erected blockades in the Parliament Street area. Deciding to prepare for a demonstration in Delhi against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), the Jamia Coordination Committee said that the students would march to the residence of Home Minister Amit Shah. Senior leader Yogendra Yadav is also present with the students.

Students have also appealed to celebrate “National Protest Day” today. Protests are being organized against CAA in many parts of the country. In view of the protests, Section 144 has been imposed in Mandi House area of ​​Delhi and large-scale police forces have been deployed.

The protesters have a copy of the Constitution in their hands and a picture of Baba Saheb Ambedkar. These protesters also include students of Delhi University and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).

Meanwhile, hundreds of young doctors working in different hospitals in Delhi reached Jamia Millia Islamia on Monday to show solidarity with the protesting students. Students protesting the citizenship amendment law joined the procession. The procession also included students pursuing undergraduate courses in physiotherapy along with doctors.
