Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose on Saturday took oath as the first Lokpal of India in the presence of President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi.
President Ram Nath Kovind administered the oath of office to Justice Ghose as Lokpal chairperson at a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Justice Ghose retired as a Supreme Court judge in 2017. He was on March 19 appointed as the country’s first Lokpal, the anti-corruption ombudsman.
