Jammu & Kashmir recorded 71.1 % polling in the Phase-V of Panchayat Polls held on November 29.
According to Shaleen Kabra, Chief Electoral Officer J&K, an overwhelming 85.2% polling was witnessed in Jammu division and Kashmir division polled 33.7%.
The chief electoral officer added that the lowest percentage was reported in Pulwama 0.5 %, followed by Anantnag 10.1 %.
He further added that the highest percentage is recorded in Reasi with 88.9 % polling.
Giving district-wise details, Chief electoral officer said that Kupwara witnessed 42.5% polling, Bandipora 34.6%, Baramulla 32.9%, Ganderbal 20.3%, Budgam 34.8%, Doda 83.3%, Ramban 85.2%, Udhampur 82%, Rajouri 82.8% and Poonch 84.5%.
On behalf of Governor Satya Pal Malik, Chief Secretary BVR Subrahmanyam conveyed compliments to the civil and police administration for smooth, free and fair conduct of Panchayat Polls.
He said it is heartening to note that the process is halfway through and the credit goes to the divisional, district and police administration and all other concerned Departments for ensuring smooth polls.
