Jammu and Kashmir: Two terrorist killed; one soldier martyred in encounter in Anantnag

Two terrorists were killed on Tuesday in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district. An Army soldier was also martyred in the gunfight.

According to the police, one more terrorist is believed to be hiding inside a building in the area.

Kashmir Zone Police earlier tweeted, “#Encounter starts in #Bijbehara area of #Anantnag. #Securityforces are on the job. Further details shall follow.”

Security forces launched cordon and search operation in the area after receiving specific inputs about the presence of terrorists there.

Hiding terrorists fired at the surrounding security forces triggering an encounter.

The exchange of fire is currently underway, police sources said.

On Monday, a terrorist was killed, while a major was martyred, another officer and a soldier were also injured in an encounter in Anantnag district.

The deceased Major, who hailed from Meerut, has been identified as Ketan Sharma.
