India’s COVID-19 cases rise to 1,038,716; Death toll at 26,273

The number of coronavirus cases in India have risen to 1,038,716 as it recorded 34,884 fresh infections in the last 24 hours. A total of 26,273 coronavirus patients have lost their lives, the Union Health Ministry said on Saturday.

There are 3,58,692 active cases while 6,53,750 have been cured/discharged, according to Health Ministry data.

Maharashtra remains the worst affected state in the country. The total number of COVID-19 cases has risen to 2,92,589 with 11,452 fatalities.

Tamil Nadu has the second highest COVID-19 cases – 1,60,907 with 2,315 deaths followed by Delhi – 120107 and 3,571 deaths, Karnataka – 55,115 with 1,147 deaths, Gujarat – 46,430 cases and 2,106 fatalities and Uttar Pradesh – 45,163 cases and 1,084 deaths.

A total of 1,34,33,742 samples have been tested up to July 17 of which 3,61,024 samples were tested yesterday, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said.
