IIM-L sees 100% campus placements

Wage packages offered by  recruiters range between 23 lakh and 58.5 lakh, reports Mudit Mathur

A highly dynamic global business environment calls for special skills from top decision-makers. Growth of international marketing avenues motivate youngsters to opt business management as their most preferred career choice. The corporate world goes for hunting the best and ablest talent from the lot of budding managers and Indian Institute of Management Lucknow (IIM-L) embarked on a mission to fulfill this need among top business recruiters resulting in cent percent placement of its students.

IIM-L for the last 34 years has lived up to the challenges and expectations of recruiters engulfing its campus. Through three of its distinctive platforms: the two-year Post Graduate Programme (PGP) in Management, the Agri-Business Management Programme (ABM), and a one-year International Programme in Management for Executives (IPMX), offered from its Noida campus), IIM Lucknow has been a breeding ground for hardworking and innovative managers.

The Institute gained eminence for special emphasis on inculcating corporate values and skills required for multifarious decision-making, besides building superior capability on functional domains and garnering business knowledge. Students from IIM Lucknow today serve with distinction in senior business positions across the globe.

The IIM-L has completed the final placements for the class of 2018-20 of the two-year Post Graduate Programme. IIM-L continues its academic excellence with 100 per cent placement for its 34th Batch of 443 students in a record time. More than 140 domestic and international recruiters participated in campus recruitment drive. IIM-L has recorded cent percent success in campus placements this year with wage packages ranging between 58.5-23 lakhs. 58.47 and 54 lakh was recorded as highest international and highest domestic salary packages whereas 23 lakh was an overall average salary.

Top segments based on the roles offered were Strategy/Consulting (32 per cent), Operations/IT (24 per cent), Finance (19 per cent), General Management (13 per cent) and Sales & Marketing (12 per cent). Leading recruiters continued to value IIM Lucknow as their preferred campus. IIM-L now also considered a preferred recruitment destination for consulting, finance operations, product management and marketing roles in the country. The remaining offers were from domains such as market research, analytics, business development, digital marketing & supply chain among others.

American e-commerce giant Amazon, consulting firms Accenture, Deloitte India, Price water house Coopers, and Boston Consulting Group extended 13 offers each to the post-graduate programme students of 2018-20 batches. Overwhelmed IIM-L first time released salary packages, with the highest domestic remuneration pegged at 54 lakh per annum.

Consulting firm Deloitte US was second top recruiter with 12 offers, while Reliance Jio and management consulting firm Bain & Company shared the third spot with 11 offers each. Among other renowned firms, Master Card offered 10 jobs while Flipkart and JDA Software handed out nine job offers each. In all, 483 students were placed. Seven offers each were made by American Express, Avendus Capital, Citi, EXL Services, Landmark Group, and RPG Group. Asian Paints, ICICI Bank, McKinsey and Company and Royal Bank of Scotland extended six offers each to figure in the list of top recruiters. 

As many as 16 job offers were international, with the highest seven from Landmark in Dubai followed by three each from Apparel Group and RPG Group in Dubai, Africa and US, respectively. Ernst & Young made two international offers in Qatar. The highest international salary was 58.5 lakh per annum. Chairman, students’ affairs and placement at IIM-L, Prof Rajesh K Aithal said, “The results show IIM-L has excellent pedagogics, and speaks volumes about the competencies and values which students acquire here.”

Consulting and General Management Sector In the consulting domain a total of 147 offers were made.

Some of the firms in the IT/Ecommerce/Technology sectors were Amazon, Byju’s, Cloudtail, Ekart, Flipkart, JDA Software, Magicbricks.com, Makemytrip, Media.net, Microsoft, Myntra, Ola, Samsung, Swiggy, Uber, Udaan and Wipro.

In addition to roles in IT/Systems, these firms opened roles in category management, sales enablement, business development, supply chain management, product marketing, strategic alliances, program management and analytics.

Prof. Rajesh Aithal attributes this to excellent teaching, competencies and values students acquire at IIM Lucknow. With this year’s placements, IIM Lucknow has yet again reinforced its presence among the top B-schools in the country and has proven to be a preferred destination for organizations.
