Social activists like Raj Narain needed in every corner of the country, says MP Sanjay Singh

He was speaking at the launch of the book ‘Raj Narain – Ek Naam Nahi Itihaas Hai’ written by Shahnawaz Qadri

New Delhi : Today we need social activists like Raj Narain in every corner
of the country who could question the establishments and governments when
required, said Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh during a book launch ceremony.

Also present at the launch of the book ‘Raj Narain – Ek Naam Nahi Itihaas
Hai’ written by Shahnawaz Qadri were Socialist leader and thinker Raghu Thakur,
former Rajya Sabha MP Obaidullah Khan Azmi, Professor Raj Kumar Jain and Prof
Ramesh Dikshit, among others.

Raj Narain — an Indian freedom fighter and politician – had won a famous
electoral malpractice case against the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, which
led to her disqualification and imposition of Emergency in India in 1975. He
had defeated Indira Gandhi during the 1977 Lok Sabha elections.

Raj Kumar Jain, who wrote a 27-page chapter in the book, said, “There must
be something in Raj Narain’s personality that such a huge number of people have
gathered here to pay tribute to his contributions to the society, particularly
the downtrodden.

The event was held at Gandhi Peace Foundation in New Delhi.
