Former Chief Election Commissioner TN Seshan passes away

Former Chief Election Commissioner of India, TN Seshan passed away on Sunday due to Heart attack. He was 86 years old. Seshan was the tenth Chief Election Commissioner of India and is credited with giving a different look to the institution of Election Commission in the country. There were dozens of election reforms in his time. He was the first Chief Election Commissioner to conduct elections in four phases.

PM Modi condoled the demise of TN Seshan, In a tweet he said, “Shri TN Seshan was an outstanding civil servant. He served India with utmost diligence and integrity. His efforts towards electoral reforms have made our democracy stronger and more participative. Pained by his demise. Om Shanti.”

Former Chief Election Commissioner SY Quraishi in a tweet said, “Sad to announce that Shri TN Seshan passed away a short while ago. He was a true legend and a guiding force for all his successors. I pray for peace to his soul.”
