With 34,956 COVID-19 cases in 24 hours, India’s tally over 10 lakh; Death toll at 25,602

The number of coronavirus cases in India have risen to 1,003,832 as it recorded 34,956 fresh infections in the last 24 hours. A total of 25,602 coronavirus patients have lost their lives, the Union Health Ministry said on Friday.

There are 3,42,473 active cases while 6,35,756 have been cured/discharged, according to Health Ministry data.

Maharashtra remains the worst affected state in the country. The total number of COVID-19 cases has risen to 2,84,281 with 11,194 fatalities.

Tamil Nadu has the second highest COVID-19 cases – 1,56,369 with 2,236 deaths followed by Delhi – 1,18,645 and 3,545 deaths, Karnataka – 51,422 with 1,032 deaths, Gujarat – 45,481 cases and 2,089 fatalities and Uttar Pradesh – 43,441 cases and 1,046 deaths.

A total of 1,30,72,718 samples have been tested up to July 16 of which 3,33,228 samples were tested yesterday, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said.
