Encounter breaks out in Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam

An encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir in the early hours of Thursday.

Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the Pathanpora area of Budgam after receiving specific information about the presence of terrorists there, a police official said. 

The search operation turned into an encounter after the hiding terrorists opened fired at the security forces, who retaliated.

Kashmir Zone Police in a tweet said, “#Encounter has started at #Pathanpora area of #Budgam. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow.”

On Wednesday five terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Sugoo area of Shopian district. 

Earlier this week, nine terrorists were gunned down by security forces in two separate operations.
