Devendra Fadnavis on Monday met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi, amid the continuing impasse over government formation in Maharashtra.
The meeting was held at Amit Shah’s residence.
The BJP and its ally Shiv Sena combine won state elections but the two alliance partners have not been able to decide on forming the government.
However, sources said the meeting between Fadnavis and Shah was to draw former’s attention to the farmers’ woes in the Maharashtra due to unseasonal rains.
Fadvanis also said that his discussions with Shah were on crop destruction in the state.
Today’s meeting between Fadnavis and Shah came hours before Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar’s meeting with Congress president Sonia Gandhi. The two will meet to discuss political developments in the state.
Soon after the Assembly election results, alliance partners Shiv Sena and the BJP have come at loggerheads regarding the much talked about 50-50 formula for power sharing in the state which according to Sena chief that the two had talked about before the election earlier this year. However, the BJP is not ready to accept the 50-50 formula.
