In a shocking incident, Delhi Police head constable was gunned down early on Wednesday by unidentified miscreants near his residence in Southeast Delhi’s Jaitpur area, police said.
The deceased police officer was identified as Ram Avtaar. He was shot, when he went out to fetch an autorickshaw for a family member on Tanki Road in Mithapur area, the police added.
He was taken to Apollo Hospital soon after the incident but succumbed to his injuries.
Ram Avtar was posted in Ambedkar Nagar police station and lived at Shakti Vihar near Jaitpur police station.
Meanwhile, the police are investigating the matter, the identity or motive of culprits is yet to be ascertained.
