Coronavirus: US death toll crosses 2000

The United States has recorded over 2000 deaths due to coronavirus. US now has the maximum number of COVID-19 cases in the world, above Italy and China. 

President Donald Trump on Saturday night asked the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to issue a “strong Travel Advisory” but said that a quarantine would not be necessary in those states.

“On the recommendation of the White House CoronaVirus Task Force, and upon consultation with the Governor’s of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, I have asked the @CDCgov to issue a strong Travel Advisory, to be administered by the Governors, in consultation with the…. Federal Government. A quarantine will not be necessary,” Trump tweeted.

New York is among the worst hit cities due to coronavirus.

Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that the state will postpone its presidential primary election by nearly two months, citing concerns about the spread of the coronavirus.

“We will move our presidential primary to June 23rd. Public health is our number one priority and we will carry out this vital democratic process at a safer date,” Cuomo said.

More than 30000 people have lost their lives due to the coronavirus pandemic across the world.
