Coronavirus Outbreak: Distressed Entertainment Industry, Cancelled Events

After the huge thrash in tourism industry caused by the coronavirus outbreak.  Entertainment & Fashion industry has also been badly affected by the coronavirus pandemic. Worldwide major Cultural and sports events have been postponed or cancelled. The contagious disease has disturbed major fashion events, entertainment carnivals, film industry and tech conferences throughout the world, triggering mass disruptions to daily life.

The outbreak has traumatized the entertainment and movie industry too. Musical bands and artists cancelled tours and concerts; Film releases have been delayed. The eminent Cannes film festival is at the verge of being terminated. Latest upcoming Bollywood movie Sooryavanshi release date has been postponed. Hollywood much awaited Fast and furious 9 has also been postponed for a year.  The release of American movie “Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway” has been pushed to August’20 due to coronavirus outbreak. 

As a preventive measure, many cinemas and theatres have been closed in Europe, America and Asia. Countries like India, China, France and Slovakia have recently closed a number of cinemas and theatres for several weeks.  Major events of the world including New York Auto show has been postponed for first time over coronavirus. The American famous art and music festival Coachella & Stagecoach, which was scheduled for April, is now rescheduled to October. The delay caused great loss to the organizers as these two events generated huge income. The famous TV show America’s Got Talent has also been postponed.

Major sports events have also been terminated or cancelled due to the havoc of this dreadful disease. The biggest sports event that could be affected is Olympic 2020 in Japan. Moreover, The US’ National Hockey League (NHL), Indian Premium League, International Cricket Series featuring team like India, Australia, Sri Lanka, England, New Zealand, South Africa has been cancelled. Australian’s Motor-racing Grand Prix and Asian Amateur Chess Championship have also been postponed. Major tournaments including Summer’s European Championship 2020, Wimbledon, Ryder Cup & T20 Men’s World Cup will be in doubt if things don’t improve.

As a preventative measure a chain of prominent companies like Facebook, Twitter, Netflix, and Apple withdraw major events across the globe.  Closure of offices of major tech companies comprise of Apple, Samsung, Microsoft, Tesla and Google led to direct economic loss. These companies closed their offices in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan without declaring the duration of their reopening. Even, Google advised all its North American Employees to work from home till April. The world’s most visited theme park Disneyland in California will remain shut at least until the end of March due to coronavirus outbreak.

Aviation industry is badly affected due to this disaster, facing huge economic recession. Airlines have been delayed or terminated and are offering fee concessions to the customers for trip changes and cancellations. Apparently, Educational Institution like Harvard University is instructing the students to vacate the campus and move to their homes for the prevention of coronavirus infection. The university initiated online classes for all the courses for the students.
