With the rise of pollution in the atmosphere, air quality in Delhi deteriorated to the ‘very poor’ category on Thursday morning.
The Air Quality Index stood at 376 in RK Puram, 311 in Lodhi Road, 387 in Punjabi Bagh, 384 in ITO – all four in the ‘very poor’ category as per the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) data, while AQI in Anand Vihar, Wazirpur and Alipur entered ‘severe’ category and was recorded at 401, 410 and 405 respectively.
The national capital witnessed a thin layer of haze today morning, reducing visibility in various parts of the city.
Amid the rise in pollution levels, people are having problems with breathing. The very poor category affects the health of people and can lead to respiratory illness on prolonged exposure, experts said.
