JNU violence: FIR registered, social media and CCTV footage will be part of investigation; says Police

The Delhi Police has registered a First Information Report (FIR) on Monday in connection with violence in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).

Devendra Arya, DCP (South-West) said that the case has been registered. “We have taken cognizance of violence at JNU and have registered a First Information Report (FIR),” said DCP.

The top cop further said that social media and CCTV footages will be part of investigation.

The brazen attack by masked goons armed with weapons left several teachers and students injured on Sunday.

JNU Vice Chancellor M Jagadesh Kumar today appealed to all students to maintain peace.

Senior warden of Sabarmati Hostel of JNU has resigned stating, ‘we tried but could not provide security to hostel.’

The attack on JNU students prompted nationwide protests as thousands of students across the country rose in protest against the violence.
