India has reported 55,342 new cases of coronavirus and 706 deaths in the last 24 hours. The COVID-19 tally in the country now stands at 71,75,880, while the death toll rose to 1,09,856, according to Health Ministry data.
Of the total cases, 62,27,295 have been cured/discharged/migrated. There are 8,38,729 active cases of COVID-19 in India.
The recovery rate among coronavirus patients stands at 86.78%.
Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said over 8.89 crore samples have been tested up to October 12 of which 10,73,014 samples were tested yesterday.
