Uttar Pradesh: Police inspector, 3 journalists arrested for extortion in Noida

A police inspector and three journalists were arrested in Noida, Uttar Pradesh on charges of bribery and extortion, police said.

“Manoj Kumar Pant, SHO of Sector 20 police station, and the journalists identified as Sushil Pandit, Udit Goyal and Raman Thakur were arrested on Tuesday,” official said.

According to the reports, the four were caught while extorting money of Rs 8 lakh from a call centre owner for removing his name from an FIR, which was registered against him in November 2018.

A Mercedes Car was also seized from the possession of one of the journalists, which prima facie, seems to be associated with some criminal activity.
