The Supreme Court on Thursday ordered political parties to upload on their website details of criminal cases against candidates and the reasons for selecting them.
The Supreme Court also directed parties to publish criminal antecedents of candidates in newspapers and social media platforms.
The Court said it would be mandatory for parties to upload the details on their websites.
Parties must submit these details within three days to the Election Commission, the court said.
If the parties failed to comply with the order. the Election Commission can initiate contempt of court proceedings, the judges said.
