A man from Uttar Pradesh who had died on Monday became the state’s first coronavirus linked death on Wednesday after his samples tested positive for COVID-19.
He hailed from Basti area and was admitted in a hospital in Gorakhpur.
According to the sources, the man had returned from Mumbai and hid his travel history from hospital authorities.
The incident has invoked fear in the hospital staff and doctors.
The administration has now sealed off the area in which the patient lived and all those who came in contact with the deceased have been quarantined.
The total number of COVID-19 active cases in India stand at 1466 with 38 fatalities, according to Health Ministry website.
